Edgar Manyak

Edgar Manyak entstammt einer Musikerfamilie und wurde 1967 im rumänischen Hermannstadt geboren.
Schon im  Alter von 10 Jahren begann er mit dem Posaunespiel. Während seines Studiums in Berlin, Trossingen und Freiburg im Breisgau bei Prof. Johann Doms und Prof. Branimir Slokar nahm er erfolgreich an diversen großen Wettbewerben wie dem „Prager Frühling“ teil.
Im Anschluss an sein künstlerisches Aufbaustudium widmete sich Edgar Manyak mehrere Jahre kammermusikalischen und solistischen Projekten und war mehr als 10 Jahre Mitglied des Slokar-Posaunenquartett.
Seit 1996 ist er Soloposaunist des Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchesters Berlin.
2005 füllte er während einer Spielzeit dieselbe Position an der Staatskapelle Dresden aus.
Er ist Gast im Blechbläser-Ensemble Ludwig Güttler.
Mit der Instrumentenfirma Kühnl & Hoyer verbindet ihn eine enge Zusammenarbeit. So wurde eine Basstrompete entwickelt, die Edgar Manyak bei allen Gastverpflichtungen spielt. Neben seiner Professur an der Musikhochschule Basel folgt er regelmäßig Einladungen zu Masterclasses und Konzerten als Solist in Deutschland, der Schweiz, China und Japan.

Edgar Manyak grew up in a family of musicians and was born in 1967 in Hermannstadt, Romania.
He started playing the trombone at the age of 10. During his studies in Berlin, Trossingen and Freiburg im Breisgau with Prof. Johann Doms and Prof. Branimir Slokar, he successfully participated in various major competitions such as the „Prague Spring“.
Following his postgraduate studies, Edgar Manyak devoted several years to chamber music and solo projects and was a member of the Slokar Trombone Quartet for more than 10 years.
Since 1996 he has been principal trombonist of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin.
In 2005 he filled the same position at the Staatskapelle Dresden for one season.
He is a guest of the brass ensemble Ludwig Güttler.
He works closely with the instrument company Kühnl & Hoyer. Thus a bass trumpet was developed which Edgar Manyak plays at all guest engagements.
In addition to his professorship at the Basel University of Music, he regularly follows invitations to master classes and concerts as a soloist in Germany, Switzerland, China and Japan.
