James Morrison

James Morrison ist nach allgemeinem Verständnis ein Virtuose im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Neben der Trompete spielt dieser Multiinstrumentalist auch Posaune, Klavier, Saxophon und Kontrabass.

Im Alter von sechs Jahren begann er mit dem Klavier, mit sieben Jahren begann er mit den Blechblasinstrumenten, mit neun Jahren gründete er seine erste Band und mit dreizehn Jahren spielte er professionell in Nachtclubs. Seine internationale Karriere entwickelte sich ebenso schnell mit einem Debüt in den USA beim Monterey Jazz Festival im Alter von sechzehn Jahren.

Es folgten Auftritte bei den wichtigsten Jazzfestivals der Welt, darunter Montreux, North Sea, Nizza und der Hollywood Bowl, wo er mit vielen Legenden des Jazz spielte - Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Dave Brubeck, Chick Corea, George Benson, Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, B.B. King, Ray Brown und Wynton Marsalis, um nur einige zu nennen. James besucht auch die berühmtesten Jazzclubs der Welt - Birdland, The Blue Note und Village Vanguard in New York, das New Morning in Paris, das Tokyo Blue Note und das Ronnie Scott's in London.

James wurde zum Mitglied des "Order of Australia" ernannt, hat unzählige Preise gewonnen und wurde in die Australian Jazz Hall of Fame aufgenommen. Er hat mehrere Ehrendoktortitel erhalten und ist Lehrbeauftragter an der University of South Australia, wo er seine eigene Musikakademie leitet.

Mit seinen 56 Jahren hat James Morrison in seiner Karriere weit mehr als nur Jazz gespielt...

Er hat mit dem London Symphony Orchestra, den Rocklegenden INXS und dem European Brass Ensemble Aufnahmen gemacht, ist in der Royal Albert Hall für die BBC Proms aufgetreten, hat die Eröffnungsfanfare für die Olympischen Spiele geschrieben, für Ihre Majestät Königin Elizabeth und für die US-Präsidenten Bush und Clinton gespielt. Er spielte klassische Trompete im Kreml, brach einen Guinness-Rekord als Dirigent des größten Orchesters der Welt, war Fernsehmoderator bei Top Gear Australia und war 2016 Gast von Präsident Obama im Weißen Haus.

Er ist Pilot, Rallyefahrer, Segler, Autor und sogar ein Erfinder...

James Morrison is, by anybody’s standard, a virtuoso in the true sense of the word. Besides the trumpet, this multi-instrumentalist also plays trombone, piano, saxophone and double bass.

At the age of six he started on piano, at seven he took up brass, at nine he formed his first band and at thirteen he was playing professionally in nightclubs. His international career developed just as quickly with a debut in the USA at the Monterey Jazz Festival at age sixteen.

Following this were performances at the world’s major jazz festivals, including Montreux, North Sea, Nice and the Hollywood Bowl, playing with many of the legends of jazz - Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Dave Brubeck, Chick Corea, George Benson, Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, B.B. King, Ray Brown and Wynton Marsalis to name a few. James also frequents the world’s most famous jazz clubs – Birdland, The Blue Note and Village Vanguard in New York, the New Morning in Paris, the Tokyo Blue Note and Ronnie Scott’s in London.

James has been appointed a member of The Order of Australia, has won countless awards and has been inducted into the Australian Jazz Hall of Fame. He has received several honorary Doctorates and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of South Australia, leading his own music Academy.

Now 56, James Morrison’s career has included much more than just jazz…

He has recorded with The London Symphony Orchestra, rock legends INXS and the European Brass Ensemble, performed at the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms, written the opening fanfare for the Olympic Games, played for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and for US Presidents Bush and Clinton. He has played classical trumpet at the Kremlin, broken a Guinness record conducting the World’s Largest Orchestra, was TV presenter on Top Gear Australia and in 2016 was a guest of President Obama at the White House.

He’s a pilot, rally driver, sailor, author and even an inventor…
