PRESS RELEASE 28.04.2020

The IPV Trombone Festival in Saarbrücken ended on Sunday, March 8, 2020, with great success and a great response from the audience.
A total of about 180 trombonists from all over the world had accepted the invitation of the "International Trombone Association" (IPV) and the German-French Trombone Association to come to Saarbrücken to the HfM Saar.
For the third time the "IPV Solo Competition" took place at the IPV Festival from 5th to 8th March, this time at the Saarbrücken Music Academy. This year the artistic directors of the festival and the competition were Prof. Fabrice Millischer and Guilhem Kusnierek.

88 young trombone soloists from 29 countries presented themselves to an international jury. The first prizes in the category tenor trombone and in the category bass trombone each consisted of a new, high-quality instrument from a renowned manufacturer, and there were further attractive prizes for all other prize winners. The first prizes also included the possibility of a solo performance at the IPV Trombone Festival 2021 as part of a soloist concert.

In the tenor trombone category, the young Pole Maciek Prokopowicz won. With the "Conn-Selmer-Prize" he now received a new, individually adapted tenor trombone of the brand "Conn" or "Bach" worth several thousand Euros. The second prize in the tenor trombone category went to Benoit Dehaine (F), the third to the only 19-year-old Tim Ouwejan from Holland.

In the bass trombone category Pierre Campenon (F, D) won first prize. He received a new "Yamaha" brand bass trombone worth several thousand euros. The second prize went to Jürgen Oswald (Austria, D) and the third prize to Laurent Lemaire from Luxemburg.

A special prize of the jury was awarded to the tenor trombonist Roberto de la Guia (Spain), who was only just in fourth place.

The members of the international jury were Prof. Gustav Rivinius (Chairman, D - Cello) and the trombonists Prof. Michel Becquet (F), Prof. Marc Meyers (Luxembourg), Prof. Daniel Perpiñán (Spain), Matyas Veer (Basspos., Hungary, D)
